This thesis deals with the project of the redevelopment and reconstruction of the existing Milan Mela Complex and development of a permanent international standard exhibition complex over 22.35 acres land area equipped with both permanent and temporary exhibition spaces which shall be open to the citizens of Kolkata all year round. To design and develop this project, a study on the feasibility of various long-span structures has also been conducted. Case studies of other exhibition and conventions centers (both in India and abroad) were also conducted to draw inferences in support of the final design outcome. The site and the design brief were also studied thoroughly prior to commencement of the design process.en_US
