Abstract: The purpose of the present report is to detail out the design process involved in designing the proposed Tea Estate Resort at Syli T.E., West Bengal. Tea tourism is a new concept in India which is catching fast on with more and more tourists making their way to the lush green tea estates. Tea tourism is often said to be a similar concept to wine tourism where the visitors stay in the vineyards, observe wine-making process, taste the wine, shop for wine and local crafts and produce. Through the architecture of the resort, the design will seek to enrich the experiences and understanding of the meaning, ceremony, connotation and character of tea. Tea culture is the core cultural element in this project. The connotations of tea drive the main style, cultural, and spatial experience. From the view of architecture itself, this methodology could provide a humanistic and cultural basis. Design style, space sequence, design intention as well as selection of material would have clear direction and reference, within this thematic context. From the society aspect, the building has two meanings which are both from the cultural level as well as the economic level. It will activate the vitality of tea cultural context and industry, and engage with people’s daily lives in a more interesting way
