dc.description.abstractIndia's extraordinary architectural heritage is observed in towns and cities, especially in the areas of the older historic towns, reflecting numerous unique characteristics d cities of high historical and heritage significance have been facing the developmental pressures, due to the growing pace of transformation resulting in a process of gradual erosion of a traditional pattern of urban form of towns & cities, evolved through time. Due to the increasing needs for development, the current pattern for historic towns are alien to the inherent fabric of form space order, streetscape and the infrastructural capacity, instead of being sympathetic to it, along with the enormous pressures that are exerted upon, by the rapid pace of urbanization, changing socio-economic values, increasing commercialization and insensitive, generic development norms (shaped largely by western influences) - the urban quality of life, intimate relationships and associations of people with their surroundings, the comfort and significance of familiarity identity and continuity experienced within the socially cohesive structure of the traditional core areas within historic towns, are all fast disappearing, and are forever threatened. This thesis aims to study the theoretical and practical aspects of heritage conservation of the historic town of Paithan where both tangible and intangible aspects of heritage conserved along with providing development and economic opportunities, by making conservation strategies for the historic town of Paithan, pondering upon How heritage conservation strategies not only underutilized the assets but also how it can also strengthen the character, serving as an anchor for re-establishing communities and help towards restoring the identity and uniqueness of the town ,Which would aid stakeholders and developmental agencies concern to a more socioeconomically sustainable heritage-led developmental strategyen_US
