It has working rigorously and vigorously to make Bhopal an urban utopia.” (bscdcl, 2015) Housing in Smart Cities Housing in Smart Cities will put the Citizen at the heart of things. In such a city, the housing provides to the city what it needs in terms of 1. Resources such as Fresh Water, Electricity, Sanitation and 2. Capacities such as Housing to care for all classes of people, Rental housing, etc. The citizens that occupy this housing in turn become stakeholders and gain from the prosperity of the city Digital Technology offers the means to plug into such a Cooperative city - to access and monitor the prosperity he or she has become a part of. To set a frame for such a city, we propose a - VERTICAL CITY. In it, the ground surface of the city is treated as a Resource common to all. By growing vertically such a city would answer the need for higher density and a greater efficiency in the use of land. Higher density is a necessity as we become increasingly urban and more populous.
