The Mumbai Museum is a hypothetical project that was conceptualized as one of the very first attempts of developing a museum that is dedicated to the history, evolution, the present and the future promises of a city. It would deal with instigating a thought process in the minds of the visitors through the use of memory and interpretation. Unlike the conventional museums, instead of having independent galleries or exhibition halls for different subjects, The Mumbai Museum would take the visitors to a journey starting from the history to the future of the city and creating a storyline in their minds. The ultimate goal of the museum is to make people acknowledge and cherish the journey they would be taken to and to make them live and experience the various facets of Mumbai. The idea is to put the whole experience and image of the city in to a single entity where the visitors can experience and learn about the rich and significant history, the rich cultural heritage and the very spirit of Mumbai that includes the people and their activities. All the exhibition spaces, interactive centers, art galleries and audio-visual experience centers of the museum, would manifest the grandeur of the rich cultural and architectural heritage and its evolution. It would manifest the journey of Mumbai by making the visitors a part of it. All the good memories and achievements of the city would be revered by the museum and at the same time lessons would be taught through the bad memories by paying tribute and commemorating the sufferings, tolerance and sacrifices of the people. It would also set goals for the people of Mumbai that they need to achieve through their lives. The museum would be an experience cum learning center for the people of all ages and backgrounds and it would infuse a sense of pride and zeal in the hearts and minds of the visitors and the people of Mumbai. The Museum would become an asset for Mumbai and would generate immense tourism and revenue.en_US
