Abstract: In India, In the last two decades, migration has increased from villages and small towns to cities especially in metropolitan cities. This has been leading to degradation of urban environmental quality and increased unlivable neighborhoods which generally termed as ‘Slums’. Majority of developing cities and developed cities are facing these problems of slum. As per the latest information more than one fifth of the urban population lives in slums. If this keeps going at this rate the only future we can predict is that a large chunk of urban population is living in slums. Therefore it is important to work on this problem and find the better solution. The motive behind the whole project is to redevelop the slum in the developing city and make it prepare for future inadequacy of housing. Nagpur is one of the best example of developing cities with upcoming projects like Multi-model International cargo Hub and Airport in Nagpur (MIHAN), Metro and Educational institutions like IIIT, AIIMS, IIM, NIPER, etc. Due to which, from past few decades the growth of slums has been outrageous in Nagpur. Project is driven under PMAY has been implemented by SRA Nagpur on behalf of NMC. Under this scheme, 6,246 dwelling units (DU) along with infrastructure and amenities have been proposed. In City development plan 2041 it is proposed. But this report doesn’t specify any site or location, The site I have chosen after analyzing various slum is in the Naikwadi precinct in the north-east part of Nagpur city. It is around an old lake named Lendi talab and encroaching the lake bed more everyday. The site is around a lake named lendi Talab. Around 40% of the catchment area of Lendi Talab, one of the city's 11 lakes, has been encroached upon by houses and shanties. Municipal corporation reports recorded 168 houses constructed on the lake bed until 2002. Today, almost half of the lake's area is under such encroachments, and the number is increasing with every passing day. The municipal corporation is now awake and trying to revive the lake but it’s very late as almost all the people got their lands registered and not leave it now. NMC has said to provide them houses around 8-9 km away in a highrise PMAY housing. But they are not ready to leave the place due to fear of losing their right of land, neighbourhood, and change in daily activities. People living there mostly work in nearby areas as daily labours, drivers, shop helpers, salesmen etc. This thesis mainly worked to provide them houses on the same site, as well as reviving the lake in order to promote the coordinated development of the society, economy and ecological environment. land as they have now, with providing the same area of land they own presently. All people with area less than 35 sq. m. has been provided with min of 35 sq.m. area of built up area.
