Abstract: SCUBA Diving is a sport that not many people in India get a chance to experience because of the lack of awareness and training centres. A Training Centre and Resort has been proposed on the western Coast of India. This site has the potential to become a tourist destination because of its proximity to the proposed oceanarium and access to the beach. The project is designed in a post-modern style of architecture. The design aims at building a retreat for divers from across the world. Various user groups i.e, backpackers and families have been taken into account by the provision of dormitories and villas, giving the users an option of the level of privacy they desire. Different spaces catering to diverse activities which help keeping the user both active and relaxed as per their choice. The site has been planned such that it harnesses the serene setting with various vantage points well distributed on the site. A comprehensive design proposal has been made by carefully analysing the parameters through an extensive literature study and several case-studies.
