Abstract: “While nature is important for the community, I also feel that it is important for an individual. If he is able to take in and enclose his own piece of air, sky and rain, he will have a much stronger awareness that he is living that he has been given life.” – Tadao Ando Today’s world is faster, more demanding and more competitive than ever, stress is a major trigger factor. The most important aspect of an individual’s life is happiness and tranquillity. No doubt man has progressed to the age of virtual existence, handling commodities and interactions in a digital way. But the basic survival needs still forces and individual to revert back to his bare minimum. Nourishment of the body and soul is inherently the primary necessity of the people. This brings up issues of design which could promote wellbeing. The project aims to provide spaces with features that enhance the user environment in a positive way while they undergo treatments and therapies. Depression, stress, emotional trauma, anxiety, lifestyle disorders etc. are some of the issues that need to be addressed first to achieve calmness, inner healing and wellbeing. To deal with such issue, spaces should be designed such that they connect people to natural and rural settings, thus make them unlearn subconsciously, the ill modern lifestyle. It would then lead the person to a healthy and healed body. When a user comes with the purpose of getting relaxed and rejuvenated, both internally and externally, there is a necessity to provide spaces with such design elements that help a person experience some special transformative energy which can subsequently enhance wellbeing, and heal a person. With the increasing urbanisation, such healing spaces are imperative in today’s time as they cater to both, the poor health of mind and body and consequently in the self-healing of a person from both- outside and inside. It also helps in maintaining the inner balance and detoxification of a person. Healing spaces minimize stress, they make you feel good and allow you to perform your best. iii
