This thesis is an exploration into the connection between Education, Gandhian thought and its manifestation in the architecture. Through detailed study of the concept of Education, it’s applications in architecture are understood. An in-depth study of the development of Indian education system revealed that the current model is not very successful and changes have to be made on the grassroots level to turn around the growth rate of the education. Gandhian thought & German Education system helps bring in a new direction to the current education system. Increasing scope in service sector can help improve the economic model. Various interventions and solutions are then proposed to integrate the two and bring back the self-reliant model. The thesis focuses on how Gandhian and German educational model can bring about monumental changes to the functioning of a community. Empowering vulnerable communities will increase self-reliance and create an environment of sharing and learning and reducing increasing burden on cities.en_US
