dc.description.abstractWith the advent of liberalization, Pune knowledge-based industry has been grown phenomenally and transformed the image of the city the as “fastestgrowing technological hub”. The increasing concentration of these IT industries provides employment opportunities and brings economic momentum to the city. With the establishment of IT Industries, the spatia pattern of the surrounding area undergoes phases of growth and transformation. This thesis highlights the stages of transformation of Hinjewadi Tech villages (Hinjewadi IT Park and its surrounding area) and then explores the role of government actors, informal lobbies, and the local people involved in the IT integrated peripheral development. This research reveals that the rapid transformation of such spaces within the effect of Government policies and reforms, shaped by various lobbies and government actors, brings an adverse impact on environmental: encroachment over water bodies, construction in the buffer zones of forest area; leads to violation of development control regulations; hampered the life of the villagers and thus resulted in illegalities of the space. One of the reasons behind developing these negative impact of IT park on its surrounding area is the lack of integration between various Government actors. New urban spaces formed in the surrounding area of IT parks within the effect of neo-liberalization requires extra legality. So, in the end this research highlights the need of the formation of new institutional governance or integrated association (decentralization of Power) will help in strategizing the spatial-economic growth and development for maintaining economic momentum and reduce the ill effect of economic transformation. Also suggest the adoption of town planning scheme rather than focused acquisition to promote planned development and reduce its adverse impact on the life of villagers.en_US
