dc.description.abstractNMT provides basic accessibility, reliable transportation, public transportation connectivity, and health benefits. Improving the accessibility, ease, and safety of walking and cycling decreases the need for private motor cars, assisting in the reduction of many cities' crucial traffic problems. In Indian cities, the existing NMT infrastructure is of low quality, raising the likelihood of road traffic accidents for these users. Cities are not built for people to walk or cycle, despite a heavy dependency on NMT. As a result, existing NMT user are expected to move to personal motorized vehicles (PMV) as soon as they can afford it. If secure and comfortable infrastructure are built for NMT user, their bn share can be maintained, if not improved. This will also help to reduce the transportation system's environmental effects. As several cities around the world have discovered, street designs that prioritize car travel over people accessibility degrade quality of life and public space character. In the planning, design, maintenance, and operation of transportation networks, immediate measures are taken to achieve a more balanced use of road space by concentrating on walking, cycling, and public transportation. The study's goal is to improve Gurugram City's road conditions. Four regions in Gurugram city were chosen for the study because they have a high flow of NonMotorized Vehicles (NMV). Non-motorized users' perceptions of safety, visibility, crossing, comfort, and convenience were surveyed. The survey consisted of asking non-motorized users questions, collecting their responses as data, and analysing the results in MS Excel. The value of the Bicycle Compatibility Index (BCI) is also determined using the Inverse Variance Method. Each road's Level of Service (LOS) is recognised thanks to BCI. In addition, this study discusses the improvements measures as well as suggestions for optimal road planning and design for nonmotorized transportation (NMT)en_US
