Abstract: The historic sites tell the story of its past and add a sense of uniqueness to its surrounding neighbourhood. These sites maintain a physical reminder of the past that enhances residents and visitors perception. Residents play a major role in assessing the impact of historic sites on the surrounding neighbourhood. In the papers of different case studies like WHS Ogimachi, Lesatho, Indian Ocean Region, the city of salt examines social, cultural, economic, physical and attitudinal changes in and around the historic sites which are having positive and negative changes. Most of the papers talk about the impact of neighbourhood on historic site but there is limited research in an Indian case study about the impact of historic sites on thelocal community. The author Dr.G. Vijay finds the tourist satisfaction towards heritage site in Warangal and no research has been done to find resident’s satisfaction as assessing the neighbourhood quality as resident’s perception towards these sites plays a major role. Warangal City has been chosen as a case study as it has a rich history and culture was accorded as World Heritage city status by UNESCO. The Warangal Fort and Thousand Pillar Temple are the World Heritage sites recognised by UNESCO. The Government of India’s Tourism Ministry also recognized the city as the Best Heritage City. The second objective is achieved through a Primary survey at two selected sites of 1000 pillar temple and Warangal Fort and various impacts were analysed by calculating the mean of both the sites and the overall means of both sites have calculated to compare. To achieve 3rd objective mean of both sites and land values around sites have been found. The relation between the neighbourhood quality and land value is found to be 1 which is analysed through the method correlation which is positive. It is concluded that in the case Warangal overall impact of heritage site on neighbourhood quality is positive as residents were satisfied. It is recommended to improve environmental indicators to improve neighbourhood quality of site one and to improve physical and economic indicators to improve neighbourhood quality of site two.
