Abstract: The world of the 21st century is witnessing the fast growth of Urbanization with the vast use of Concrete, glass, and other such materials in a very haphazard way without thinking of its effect on the climate and the change that is taking place due to the enormous Carbon Emissions that took place due to it. Buildings being one of the most Contributors of Carbon emission in the environment. So, we should have sensitivity toward this issue and move towards an Energy-efficient design for the building so that the excess carbon emission can be controlled. The Efficient Building design also helps in the reduction of Total Life Cycle Costs of the building by reducing the operational costs per year. The Process of making a building energy efficient includes a list of the processes to be followed while designing the buildings. It starts with the Envelope design of the building to optimize the heat gain and heat loss in different climatic conditions through various strategies like providing shading to the building, either be it mutual shading or designed shading devices, the design of openings to ensure the optimum cross ventilation for achieving thermal comfort inside the building and further design stages like mechanical and plumbing design should also include strategies to control the carbon emission and energy loads of the building. Home is not only a shelter where one returns from their work and sleeps. Homes are the places where people grow and life gets nurtured. Our Indian society has been a core to social interaction among the people living in the society. Nowadays as the people in cities are moving to apartments and high-rise buildings where these interactions are lacking as these are being designed for maximum profit without thinking of the growth of the people. The paper intends to assess the design affecting the social interaction in the residential complex (high rise). The Thesis project focuses on the design of a Residential complex based on energy efficient strategies which promotes social interaction among the residents of the complex. As the project will be high rise, so for social interaction to be promoted at higher levels different types of recreational area has been provided at alternate floors to promote different social activities among the residents. Keywords: Home, Residential Complex, Energy Efficient, Social Interaction, Highrise, Recreational Space.
