Abstract: Public libraries in India are facing enormous challenges in order to cope with social, demographical changes, they are not capable to fulfil the requirements of today’s generation. This project is a new perception of modern public library in Indian context, which has services and spaces as per interests of community, making library as a third space for people, the spaces with sense of community, making library as the central meeting space at a city level which is expanding intellectual horizons of every user groups. The project has different sets of services like adult education and literary service, children services, braille section for blind people, audio video section, digital library, gramophone section, research space and hangout spaces, making this civic building versatile in its nature, the designing and planning are further improvisation of result came out by different surveys and questionnaires.
