Abstract: Ecotourism is entirely a new approach in tourism. Ecotourism is a preserving travel to natural areas to appreciate the cultural and natural history of the environment, taking care not to disturb the integrity of the ecosystem, while creating economic opportunities that make conservation and protection of natural resources advantageous to the local people. With a change of time, the meaning of resort has changed and now it has been a commercial form of making money. Resort, proposed here, is also a commercial tourist resort, which provides hospitality to both domestic and international tourism as it cannot depend wholly on foreigners. A good resort is that which plunge people, gives feelings of intimacy and never urge them to move away from its boundary. Thus spaces have to be planned so that it complies with the demand of both national and international visitors and standards t meet their demands. Basic requirements are restaurant, lodging suites individual cottages, curio shop, performance space etc. Besides this, it will have services like parking, reception, tourist information centre and recreational spaces like parks, jogging tracks, artificial and natural landscapes. If we see the present scenario, we cannot find all these activities under a single resort. Thus it important to know the management of these activities. This resort will attempt to integrate the socio cultural aspect of Kolkata with contemporary spatial demand of resort and create harmony between them, together harmonizing with the site, and surrounding to fit it in context. One most important aspect of this resort will be focusing more on the design of resort climatically responsive and the facilities provided to tourists. In our field of architecture, we can contribute to the environmental problems facing the planet more than others. We should take care while designing and construction, so that the resultant impact on the environment is minimal. Building is an irreversible activity, leaving directly and indirectly, a permanent mark on the Earth.
