Abstract: Itwari is the traditional commercial area of Nagpur. It has its unique character of traditional costumes. This is wholesale cum retail market and entire business of Nagpur is dependent on this market. Initially it was made for traditional way of transportation but due to advancement of technology the private vehicles are increased and new type of material are used commonly. Due to this the whole historic fabric is disturbed and the area is under development pressure. This area has this major issue which is related to the parking problem as well as to regain and maintain its historic glory. And increase the pedestrian movement and create healthy pedestrian friendly atmosphere. This design thesis topic has dealt with present and future physical infrastructure related problem. The proposal has provided multiple options for the parking as well as segregated the pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The healthy network of pedestrian route is strengthened and few new routes are established so as to encourage pedestrian movement. The guidelines for old and new construction of building are provided. The guidelines for pedestrian street is provided. A hypothetical model of new development is made in Gandhi bagh garden area for future development. In this way the area is rejuvenated as well as the present and future physical problem of the area is solved.
