Abstract: Senior citizens generally face more challenging life situations than other people (death of people close to them, deteriorating health, loss of social status, leaving home, even multiple such situations at one time) and must cope with them. Old and aged people are the real assets of society. They have worked hard for the development of the country all their lives and have a vast experience in every walk of life. At this stage of their life, these Senior Citizens need to be taken care of to make them feel special. A variety of spaces and service alternatives is evolving to meet the diverse needs and changing character of rapidly growing older population. In general, those who ever the age of 75 require more care and those didn’t have any family protection or take care or can says those whose children cannot live with their in that stage due to studies, services, and so on… Not everyone has the luxury of designing an entire house according to their aging parents. So, designing housing for senior citizens has therefore increased in complexity, requiring a broad based understanding of the needs and circumstances of the aging and role of design in limiting or promoting satisfaction in daily living and outdoor enjoyment. “Design for Senior citizens come as a healthy alternative for seniors who are keen to lead an independent and dignified life in the company of like-minded seniors. Retirement houses are fast emerging and are widely being accepted since seniors prefer to remain unburdened by the pressures of handling daily chores like washing, home maintenance, cooking, cleaning, etc. the model for retired life of seniors catering to the three stages of their lives – namely Independent Living, Assisted Living and Continuous Care Stages, holds greater promise as a fool-proof model.”
